I read something about a workprint of Batman that supposedly had extra scenes of the Joker robbing a liquor store. I never was sure how this was supposed to fit into the movie or where this story came from.

I would imagine some of those workprints were identical to the theatrical releases. Still might be worthwhile to collect if they had timecodes, property stamps etc.

I'm just excited to see a workprint of the Mask of Zorro. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of quality but I'm excited. I have screenshots of lion King Simbas Pride workprint. I think 2019 is the year these workprints will resurface. Only wish I could contact voogoo and that other guy Evan's for more info.

I dealt with Evans a time or two. He had several aliases. I think one was D. Swinton. He had an awesome list.

He did. I seen a bunch of his lists he had the Blade workprint. I take it he's out of the game or one of many that got busted by the MPAA.

Anyone ever deal with a guy named Hegemonic, one of many traders back in 1998 that had a copy of the Apt Pupil Workprint. Last I read that he disabled his site to the busts. Even looking it up on Archive Wayback doesn't have it archived.

Some have said Apt Pupil was a screener and some have said it's a workprint so I'm not sure who to believe but I have confirmation that Godzilla was a timecoded screener.

It was taken down 21 years ago when the busts began to happen. The guy's long gone. I only posted it to see if anyone remembers trading with the guy.

I'm guessing that is not the trader's site.

Back in the 90s, GeoCities had fixed URLs. If someone abandoned their page or it got deleted for TOS violations, the URL would become "available" for the next person who signed up. So, someone entirely different could create a site at the exact same URL.

My guess is the trader's site existed at that URL back in the 90s, got deleted, and then this person moved in.

EDIT: Just looked at the site a little more deeply. It looks like the author is the same "Hegemonic" but there is no mention of tape trading anywhere on this site. Yet, you could download his resume and also headshots. My guess is he got busted or lost interest in trading and took down the trading portion of his site.

The Alt Video Bootleg forum on Google has been blocked for some reason it's a bummer though as I really enjoy reading the stories on there and getting more info on what workprints existed.

Does an American Beauty Workprint exist or is it one of those rumored to exist?

Just tried to access the group and it's gone. I hate Google Groups. But, I'm too cheap to pay for an actual Usenet provider. Damn.

The American Beauty workprint was listed on one of those VCD bootleg sites up until maybe 5 years ago. The link is dead now and not archived, unfortunately. The site itself hadn't been updated since probably 2000 or so.
