Was there a reason given as to why UM didn't profile his case?

In re-reading some of Rogerís sisterís posts on Websleuths, it appears that the show didnít so much decline it as they just never responded to the request one way or the other. She said something like ďThe show must not have thought the case was worthy, because they never responded.Ē. I had forgotten about the second part and only remembered her statement about being unworthy.

I always wondered what became of parents like the Lombardis who went on the show to say that their kids didnít commit suicide. I know many would be quite old by now and several, including Tonyís father, have since died. But I wonder if they still feel their loved ones were murdered to this day or if some of them got the help they needed to accept that it was suicide and move on. Most of these cases have no info online other than links to UM videos and websites, including this one.

I've often wondered the same thing.

Although this is entirely anecdotal and OT for Lombardi, someone who claimed to be a distant family member of Rae Ann Mossor posted on one of her threads and said the family still believed that Rae Ann was murdered. Despite this, the family realized that the authorities were not going to do anything to solve the case, so they dropped their informal investigation and moved on.

Also, I seem to recall reading on the UM wiki years ago (though, admittedly, I can't find the link now) that Huey Littelton concluded that Christopher Prudhomme was actually innocent in the deaths of his daughter and son in law and that the three (or four?) individuals who were eventually convicted as accessories in the crime were the guilty parties and that the case was considered solved. I always thought the "Prudhomme is innocent" twist was interesting, especailly coming from Littleton. Assuming this is true, perhaps Littleton reached a conclusion that he was personally comfortably with and let the matter drop.

I believe it was a suicide....although on the small off chance that he WAS murdered I believe the father was involved.

Nah. It was the mother.

Weird reading the earlier posts in this thread, with the later ones. All the earlier ones are convinced on murder, but the latest are the opposite. Wonder what caused such a change in perspective?

Not sure the exact reason. But in true crime, after a while, you start to see how strong denial is in families. Unsolved had a lot of these murder or suicide cases, but after a while I found them harder and harder to believe.

There’s one major piece of Cheryl Lombardi’s theory about the intruder that people who believe Tony was murdered seem to overlook. Why would the intruder even need to stay in the home after killing Tony? He/she has the gun, so if Cheryl confronted him, could he/she not simply kill her as well to eliminate the only other witness in the house?

It just seems strange to think that this armed person who went out of their way to enter Tony’s home late at night to kill him would suddenly fear being discovered by his mother.

Occam's Razor I reckon (the simplest explanation is usually the likeliest one). It's easy to get wrapped up in wild conspiracy theories due to UM's penchant for leaving out information & sometimes framing stories from a certain angle.

This is just a guess, but for many years the only information available about some of these cases was UM. However, with the increased availability of information such as newspaper clips via online archives, legal briefs, family members talking on social media, and the like, it has become apparent that UM skewed many of the stories they presented. Typically, the skew took the conspiratorial angle and downplayed other (more likely) explanations. I can't help but wonder if this has contributed to general skepticism and leaning toward more likely explanations ala Occam's Razor on the part of many forum members.
