LOL......I know people like Gazoo, but was never a gazoo fan, hate to say but that was jumping the dinosaur (shark) in the final season to me......it was always cute that they were a "modern stone-age family" shouldn't take this stuff seriously.....but hanna-barbera were mighty confused......it was pure entertainment that works 60 years later! If the series was a real caveman cartoon, that premise would have gotten old and boring pretty fast.....so they integrated modern at the time celebrities with stone-age names (Ed Sullistone, etc) had TV, yet a real rabbit for antenna, animals that did the housework, yet had cars, and numerous gadgets mixed with improbable premises. Did cavemen bowl or have social clubs......a mix of honeymooners fun in the stoneage and I LOVE IT!

As mentioned in my post 4 of this thread here is the first little golden book that really mixes it up!

People must have slowed it down to determine, but it still doesn't sound like "Fred's two feet" to me. Yes, I know it is--it just doesn't sound like it, to me.

Re Gazoo--I can see why Gazoo could be considered a jump the dinosaur thing, but this was such a funny addition, I really enjoyed him. The writing for him was superb, and the Harvey Korman-provided voice was perfect. He was supposedly from the future, and was upset at being banished to this time in history--so they introduced him in kind of a logical way.

I do wonder if he was added to spice up the ratings a little, or just something they thought up and it just happened to be in the final season.

I learned something new today! I always thought and still did till today that the line before Pretzel Pete/ through the courtesy of Fred 's two feet was " That's right, with the family down the street" . Only now after all these years finding out it 's "Let's ride with the family down the street"!

It's funny how lyrics sung in songs can sometimes be misunderstood.

In reference to the Gazoo character, I don't know how Hanna Barbera came up with the idea but I often wonder if Gazoo might have been inspired from My Favorite Martian. Maybe Hanna Barbera used the My Favorite Martian concept to create the character of Gazoo for season 6 of The Flintstones. It sounds logical to me anyway since The Flintstones got it's inspiration from The Honeymooners.

I saw the supposed first Dino episode the other night, where he was actually a wise-guy talking snorkasaurus. They must have done a fast detour and decided to change him to a barker-only, and eventually change his color (to a kind of red, and eventually purple).

I say supposed first, because I've read he was actually on the show before he was adopted.

Here's a wild thought -- Did Dino become purple at the same time Welch's became the sponsor? They weren't subtle about their plugs...

In two episodes I watched today Dino is a reddish color ! Early season eps.before Pebbles was born.

I remember Dino being a maroonish color at times. lol

Also When I was little I thought the line was, "Through the colosseum place to-be" I guess I thought it mean the road they were driving on was were the colosseum would be in the future lol

Although a few episodes dealt with fantasies, they went overboard in the final season which often dealt with fantasies, dreams and story-telling. They clearly were running out of things to do.

Fred dreams: "No Biz Like Show Biz" and "Rip Van Flintstone"
Visiting witch: "Samantha"
A Story: "The Story of Rocky's Raiders"
Visiting alien: "The Great Gazoo" and several others
Fred turns into ape: "Fred Goes Ape"

More than half the season.
