How could Hooterville have a high school??

There's NO way a town with 28 or 48 PEOPLE would have enough kids for their own high school!! Even if you added Pixley and Crabwell Corners. That's still only around a couple hundred people.

But Arnold thought he was a person and the Ziffel's thought him as their Son, he even went to school! Eleanor was thought as more of an animal, except for the time they wanted her to mate, and Lisa was VERY picky about who her "intended" would be !!

We know that Hooterville, Pixley, and Crabwell Corners are all extremely close to each other and the boundaries are far from reliable. It's possible that depending on the circumstance any resident of any town can claim to be from another.

For what it's worth the airport, Trans-Pixley Airlines, was based in downtown Pixley and not Hooterville.
Strangely enough Crabwell Corners was mentioned in Mayberry R.F.D as one of the towns near Mayberry. If it's the same place (and keep in mind Hooterville's location is never explicitly stated) then it could be the kids of Walnut Oaks, Triplett and Centreville (neighboring towns to Crabwell Corners in Mayberry R.F.D) go to Hooterville for school given how far away from Mayberry they are. Would also explain why whenever there's a train whistle in the B&W TAGS episode it sounds like the Cannonball.

Did anyone mention Charley Pratt, Floyd Smoot, and/or Wendell Gibbs?

Weren't wives mentioned for Ben Miller and Newt Kiley in the episode about seed planting choices? And the Bradley girls had various local boyfriends (one who worked in Sam's store early on). Oriin Pike recurred in later seasons.

Another thought -- between Hooterville, Pixley, and Crabwell Corners likely could be unincorporated county land.

That's an interesting addition to the series lore.

If Green Acres is connected to Mayberry then maybe Sarah the telephone operator on both series is in fact the same person 🤔

Would make sense given Hank Kimball was seen in Mayberry moonlighting as a Kitchenware Salesman in 1966 (I guess he gave it up because he didn't like feeding random people's babies)

Billie Joe complains on an episode of PJ rerun this morning that Hooterville's population was 335.
