Default "QUARK"

anyone remember this short-lived (1 season) show that aired on NBC in 1977 or 78? It was a science fiction comedy that stared Richard Benjaman as the captain of a garbage scow in outer space. Some of his crew members were a person named Gene/Jean, who had a full set of male and female cromogones, and two twin girls named Betty 1 and Betty 2. One was a clone of the other, but noone knew which was which. Their boss was a guy named Otto Palandrome (the joke was that the name Otto IS a palandrome-a word that's spelled the same way backwards and forward) and HIS boss was named "the big, giant head" and was, literlarly, just a big, giant, disembodied head
The show was created by Buck Henry and was on Friday nights as a replacment for the extremely short-lived "SANFORD ARMS".

(OK TV KNOWLEDGE FAN you no doubt know A LOT MORE about it -so go ahead, say it)

Don't forget "Ficus" the "Vegeton" who was a humanoid vegetable, lol, and Andy the junkheap robot.

I loved "Quark" and always thought it should have lasted longer.

yea, me too. I remember I was so mad when it was cannceled.

I remember the first episode had a plot that was similar to "STAR WARS" which was still in theaters at the time.

I always thought the theme song in the pilot episode of Quark sounded like rap/hip-hop music, although Quark aired before rap/hip-hop exploded in popularity during the 1980s.

This actually replaced Chico And The Man toward the end of the season; CPO Sharkey (which now moved to 8:30) had replaced Sanford Arms many months earlier.

I watched it during its original run, and bought the series on DVD awhile back. It has its share of amusing bits.
