Obviously it is, but the episodes are going to be available for a very limited paying audience.

There are more effective ways to get solid leads.

It doesn't have to be a limited paying considering it would cost about 20 years worth of subscription to Amazon prime, to equal I'm dollars what it would cost to order "the box set" (I've seen them for roughly $2,000, if you can find them at all.)

People watched the show for a variety of reasons, whatever the case... The new launch will be the cheapest way to fulfill that reason, legally. Point, blank, period.

(2nd paragraph isn't directed at quoted poster.)

In addition to this, the most important thing is that all information will be Current. That in itself is worth paying $8 a month(roughly the cost of Amazon Prime per year...) if people are so concerned with the cases actually being solved as was posted earlier in this thread.

I am glad there are supposed to be updates. Though it is likely they will just be text thrown at the end of the episode

Amazon Prime has 54 million current accounts in the United States alone. That's nearly triple the amount of homes with a DirecTV subscription (20 million) and nearly five times the amount of homes with a Hulu account (12 million). If that is considered as "very limited" then I don't know what to say.

Since the Stack episodes are more popular, I could see them being available on Netflix and Hulu in addition to Amazon, with the Farina episodes remaining "exclusive" to Amazon. The press release said UM would be available on a variety of streaming platforms.

Well, no, but how many are going to watch them? The same as when they were on NBC? If so, great! I hope that many people watch!

(I admit I was unaware of how successful Amazon Prime is.)

Most of the people that will be paying to watch are going to be die-hard fans like us. Amazon might be a huge platform, but I don't see millions of new fans and millennials shelling out their credit cards to watch an almost 30 year old show. Let's not kid ourselves here.

There are millions of people who have shelled out for Amazon Prime and streaming is included for free for Prime members. The selection on Amazon streaming is not as vast as other streaming platforms such as Netflix or Hulu but Unsolved Mysteries seems like a major acquisition and one that already has a built-in fan base and high nostalgia factor. I can see this being successful.

I think if they advertise it correctly, it will be huge for them.

I say this because while I'm very active on this board, the fact that I'm a UM fangirl is not known by that many close to me. (Honestly, my husband had no idea until recently--we've been together almost 10 years.) When the initial announcement was made about UM, my Facebook stream was going CRAZY. And it wasn't from you folks who I've friended on FB, although some of you did share the news! I think if folks know about it, they will give it a shot. At least initially.

The WWE network really bugged me with how they "fixed up" some of their older DVD releases, going as far as blurring out the WWF logo on every corner turnbuckle or ring apron that ever appeared on screen!

Amazon prime is great. I used it for the shopping alone but now watch the video app. For me it is better than Netflix. I haven't used Netflix in months. I've actually seen more farina segments than I ever saw before....Now that I can just skip through them.

A weird thing happened to me about a week ago. I was at the gym at night. Unsolved mysteries was on tv(which is a first). I then looked at another tv in the gym and the oba chandler forensic files episode was on.
