No joke!

I'm glad Bulger was finally captured. I had always wondered if he ever would be. I had no idea that Whitey inspired Jack Nicholson's character in "The Departed"!

Apparently, when "The Departed" was playing in theaters, there was an unconfirmed sighting of Whitey Bulger leaving a screening of the film in San Diego! Matt Damon's undercover mole character in the film is also based on John Connolly, the FBI agent who was tipping off Bulger and allowed to evade arrest for years.

Did you know that the notorious fugitive named James Bulger was now arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. After long years of hiding, he was now put to jail. In the news, they mentioned that A member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Most Wanted List was taken off the list as he was caught. The Federal Bureau of Investigation acted on a tip that led to the arrest of James “Whitey” Bulger, a Boston crime leader who has been evading authorities for over 15 years. I found this here: Notorious fugitive James Bulger arrested by FBI in Santa Monica

Today I found out that 60 Minutes interviewed John Vincent Martorano, who was wanted by the FBI at the time the Roger Wheeler segment aired and was mentioned in the broadcast, as authorities wanted to question him about Roger Wheeler and John Callahan (both of whom he did in fact murder for the Winter Hill Gang. Brian Halloran, the third victim mentioned in the segment, was shot and killed by Whitey Bulger and a still-unidentified second assailant).

Martorano recounts both the Wheeler and Callahan murders briefly. He says corrupt FBI Agent Paul Rico identified Wheeler for him and provided him his tee time the day he was shot at Southern Hills in 1981, and that Agent John Connolly advised Whitey Bulger to arrange for Callahan's murder, saying that if Callahan wasn't silenced they would all "go to jail for the rest of their lives."

Usually I don't feel this way when a fellow human being passes away, but when I heard that Whitey died, and died just like all his victims did (murdered), I felt my mood pick up and that justice was finally served.

What a sham that the FBI enabled his behavior for so long, and then he had 17 years of freedom (1994-2011). But hey, what goes around comes around.
