Yeah, the book gives numerous examples of bizarre behavior from Jim Harrison following Susan's disappearance, but what's even worse is that everyone believed it was all a calculated act. Susan's sister theorized Jim was planning to use all this weird behavior to mount an insanity defense in the event he was ever charged someday.

He did it. His mannerism of choosing his words carefully were enough!

Do you blame him? Susan was clearly being bad again.

On a serious note, I always thought he did it. It saddens me that he got away with it.

I haven't read the book although I probably will in the next week or so (I happen to be between books at the moment, which is a rare occurrence for me). I've always felt that Jim was responsible. There just isn't any other possible explanation in this case. If she were killed by a stranger, they wouldn't take her car to the airport. That's the kind of thing someone who knows the victim does to divert attention away from themselves.

It seems to be happening more and more everyday. It is tragically symptomatic of our beyond pathetic justice system.

This one always enraged me, and it still enrages me seeing it again. As someone with Major Depressive Disorder, it is very easy for the person you're with to put all the blame on the sick person, especially for abusive behavior, as if we deserve it.

Jim Harrison sounded just like that. Typical abusive guy looking to put all the blame on the woman he abused, most likely to death. I wish they'd given him the chair.

One oddity about this case is the decision by Jim to drive her car to Reagan International Airport (well over an hour away from where she lived) instead of the much closer BWI Airport (about a half an hours drive). The only thing I could figure is that he could have taken the Metro out of Reagan, which would be easier to be undetected as opposed to hailing a cab or getting a ride from a friend. No stranger is going to go through the lengths of killing her, and then ditching her car an hour away. I can't believe Jim Harrison got away with murder.

It's also interesting that he drove an hour west to dump her body (in a different county than they lived) before driving an hour South to ditch her car. He was making a triangle of sorts. And I've read an article where it said since her body was found in a different county, it presented "jurisdictional problems". Which is insane to me.

I don't doubt that he laid hands on her now and then. I don't think he intentionally killed her. Given the nature of their relationship, I think there was probably an altercation of some sort and he hit her, didn't mean to kill her, but accidentally did. Then afterwards, realizing what he had done, he panicked.........which could explain the bizarre extent to which he went to trying to cover his tracks (and why his statements/appearance in the segment came off just as weird)
