On this day 47 years ago, the most Grammy awarded female in music history was born. I pray that Alison Krauss is having herself a safe and awesome day!

God bless you and her always!!!

Holly (a fan of Alison since 1994)

1968, Cass Elliot released her first solo single following the break up of The Mamas and Papas. ‘Dream a Little Dream of Me’ had been around since 1931 and had been recorded by Frank Sinatra, Frankie Laine and many others. Cass' version would be the most successful when it peaked at No. 12 on the US chart, and No.11 in the UK.

On Monday, August 27, 1990, at 12:50 a.m. (CDT),Stevie Ray Vaughan and members of Eric Clapton's touring entourage boarded a Bell 206B helicopter (registration N16933) at Alpine Valley Resort in East Troy, Wisconsin, to travel to Midway International Airport in Chicago, after he concluded an all-star encore jam session at Alpine Valley Music Theatre. A return flight was scheduled for later that night, but when the encore finished, Vaughan was eager to return to Chicago and made the decision to leave immediately. The designated helicopter originally had three seats available, but Vaughan ultimately took the last remaining seat. The helicopter crashed into a nearby ski hill shortly after takeoff, about 3,000 feetfrom a golf course.

1967, British music entrepreneur and the manager of The Beatles, Brian Epstein was found dead, locked in a bedroom at his London home. A coroner's inquest concluded that Epstein died from an overdose of the sleeping pill Carbitrol. He also managed several other artists including Gerry & The Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Cilla Black and The Remo Four. The first contract between The Beatles and Epstein was auctioned in London in 2008, and was sold for 240,000.

1995, Carly Simon and James Taylor performed live together in front of 10,000 fans on Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. It was the first time they appeared live on the same stage since 1979. The former couple played their own solo sets before combining their efforts in raising money for the local agricultural society.

On this day in 1962, September 11, the Beatles recorded "Love Me Do" with Andy White on drums, a week after recording it with Ringo on drums. The Andy White take is the standard version.
