Question Article states John Harden may not be the ghost responsible for the Florida haunting?

I stumbled upon an article from http://www.dailycommercial.com/1031haunted

"In Clermont, a 1975 murder left John Harden dead in the backyard of his home on Osceola and Fifth Streets. The current owner of the house, Ken Hatley, said he was aware of that when he bought his home.

Reports say Harden's truck was set on fire, and when he went out to investigate what happened, he was shot. Hatley said he heard the shooter was hiding in the bushes and left his shotgun behind.

The Harden murder has been featured on the popular "Unsolved Mysteries" television show and the case remains unsolved.

Hatley said he's not sure the spirit lurking within the house's walls is of Harden's.

"Many people think that, but I don't believe it is," Hatley, 60, said. "I think it is probably the guy who built the house, because whoever it is, is a calm, peaceful spirit."

Hatley said since moving into the house more than 20 years ago, he and his wife Donna have experienced vibrations of peace, warmth and healing.

"I think the negative spirits around here got ran out and the good ones are here to protect us," Hatley said.

Would the ghost of a murder victim be more aggressive. I haven't seen the segment in so long,I'm curious if the woman had dreams that involved John Harden's murder?

Well, I don't know how anyone can say with any certainity that a ghost is or is not a specific person. But yes, the woman did have dreams of Harden's murder. IIRC, she always awoke before finding out what happened. This was before she even moved into the house or knew that it existed. When she did see the house she recognized it as the one from her dream.

I know nothing about Harden other than what was shown on UM but he struck me as a womanizer. I wonder if he was killed by a jealous boyfriend/husband.

If you watch the segment and get the address (I can't remember the house number), you can do a Google street view map of it. The address is on Osceola St. Today it looks like the house is used as a business or some type of office because there's a sign in front of it in the yard. Either way, you can get a real life view of the house other than during the filming of the recreation on the UM segment.

I'd forgotten the house was in Clermont. We have an office just outside of there that we audit every year. Unfortunately we just went back in October, but I didn't think about the house. I'd have driven by to check it out and maybe take some pictures.

I thnk it's funy the actual address was on the newspaper.

Ken Hatley the current owner does have an office running from the Victorian mansion.

I think he was a womanizer too. I watched the reenactment with my Dad because I just got the "Ghost" series on dvd. My father was stunned no one has come forward to the crime. I can't believe he just left his first wife like that, different strokes for different folks I guess.

Did anyone besides the little boy in the bed physically see the ghost? Would he be able to identify or eliminate Harden as the ghost based on photographs?

The daughter did, she stated the ghost was of someone in their late 30's early 40's.

It seems they should have done a photo comparison as soon as the wife of the former occupant was located, to include or eliminate him as a possibility.

One of the UM episodes where what isn't discussed is more perplexing than what is. Why wasn't Harden's second wife interviewed (more to the point, why did she refuse?) Was it possible that someone linked to her killed Harden? You don't really get a feel of what kind of person he was, or what circumstances he had going on in his life that led to his murder.

His first wife still seemed to love him and acted pretty charitably, in view of how he left her and his children.

What doesn't make sense and what a lot of people miss is that June Farris 'dreamt' about John's final moments for almost a decade before he was ever killed. She even went in the house a year before the murder occurred. you have to listen closely. So she either made it up, or was dreaming of something else. Here's a website that proposes a pretty good theory as to who the killer really WAS.

As for Victoria Hardin being a super young child with an over protective father looking for revenge....well, she was born in Aug 1952, meaning she was 22 at the time of the murder. 'Barely 20' applies to each side of the zero I guess. Ten yeas is quite a gap.

One of the bf's said he saw it. What gave me pause was the last bit of the segment, where Stack mentioned about the new owners of the house having said they witnessed the ghosts themselves. And then mentioning about the window shattering for no reason when the camera crew was filming their.

That was the one ghost story, I bought.

That's an intriguing premise - though a bit of a stretch. Despite the circumstances, a 13yr old would still have to be pretty well messed up to off his own dad like that.
