Richie and Ralph left. Fonzie has no one left to interact with. Roger felt forced and Potsie was too stupid, annoying and useless.

Agree with every point here, but I would have kept the show going through season 7 up til Ron Howard and Donny Most's departures.

I would have made the last episode of season 7 the college graduation for Richie Potsie and Ralph, perhaps even seeing them with plans to leave home and move forward with their lives, relationships and careers.

If season seven does eventually come out on DVD, I will get that and stop collecting there, because that's where the show really ends for me.

I continued to watch Happy Days throughout its original network run, but seeing seasons 8-11 in reruns since is almost painful. It's not the show I watched through my grammar school years.

Henry Winkler may have been the most popular because he played the Fonz, but Ron Howard as Richie was really the glue that kept that cast of characters together.

I wish L&S could have stayed in Milwaukee after 1979 so atleast it could have been some more crossovers after richie left

At L&S went to California to try to do something fresh instead of staying in Milwaukee. Staying for 9 years in the same place would be boring.

Yup. The very same season that Happy Days went bad, so did L&S when they moved to California. The whole working class girls thing didn't work for me in a California setting. I wonder which creative genius was behind that decision.

Laverne & Shirley was conceived as a story of two working-class girls struggling through young adulthood in a Midwestern town. I could tolerate them in that setting, but in California, they were just a couple of annoying, star-struck airheads.

Moving to California didn't improve the writing, the show just got more ridiculous.

The Hollywood three part episode the beginning of the 1977-78 season was the introduction of Charles Chachi Arcola played by Scott Baio. This is an irony that his first appearance and 2 episodes later is when The Fonz jumped the shark and the show started a slow decline. I liked the first 4 seasons and through Chachi was unnecessary. They should have kept Spike as a recurring character. Also notice that after Chachi came in they never even mentioned Spike again similar to Chuck departing.
