You know, Maybe I could be wrong! I had the 45 of the most popular version I guess. I'm thinking the 45's that were in stores would be the one played on the radio a lot! The reason Paper lace sticks in my mind is I heard "Billy don't be a hero" on cable TV music of the 70's not that long ago and it was the version by Paper Lace. So that could be why I'm thinking that was the more popular version. I guess the 45 I had was Bo Donaldson's version !

Still I wonder why two different artists did the same song so close together????
