On this day in 1965, November 5 - my date of birth - the Beatles completed their first deliberately scheduled late-night session, for the Rubber Soul album, which had started at 11:00 PM on November 4. (The session ended at 3:30 in the morning of November 5, the day the Brits celebrate as Guy Fawkes Day.) The song they recorded was "What Goes On," the first Beatles song to give Ringo Starr part credit as a composer. His contribution? "About five words," he's said.
