NEW YORK, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- VH1 has crowned Gary Coleman, of "Diff'rent Strokes" fame, the number one kid star. Macaulay Culkin, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen, Jodie Foster, Drew Barrymore, Emmanuel Lewis, Ron Howard, Corey Feldman, Maureen McCormick and Danny Bonaduce round out the top ten on the list.
Premiering on Monday, June 13 at 9 P.M.* and hosted by Christopher Knight, "100 Greatest Kid Stars" is a five-night special that follows the tradition of VH1's successful "100 Greatest ... " franchise. VH1 has assembled the definitive list of child stars, and counts them down using new, exclusive interviews with many of the stars themselves and that golden footage from way back when ...
VH1 "100 GREATEST KID STARS"
(AP) Eugene Roche, a paunchy character actor who played the kitchen-cleaning "Ajax man" in commercials and had memorable roles in such television shows as "All in the Family" and "Magnum P.I" has died at age 75.
Roche died Wednesday (July 28th) after suffering a heart attack in an Encino hospital, family friend Timothy Wayne said Friday. He had been hospitalized Monday for tests after suffering a mild heart attack at his home in Sherman Oaks, Wayne said.
Roche's name may not be familiar to most audiences, but his face surely was.
Plump and jovial with glinting eyes, Roche costarred on TV's "Webster" as a lovable landlord, and was Archie Bunker's neighborhood nemesis Pinky Peterson on "All in the Family."
Roche, born in Boston, also played the curmudgeonly "old school" private investigator Luther Gillis on "Magnum P.I.," the sly attorney E. Ronald Mallu on the sitcom "Soap" and the newspaper editor Harry Burns on "Perfect Strangers."
One of his most memorable movie roles was in 1971's "Slaughterhouse-Five," based on the novel by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Roche played a likable POW named Edgar Derby, who amid the scorched remains of a firebombed Dresden picks up an intact porcelain figurine as a souvenir and is promptly executed for looting by his German captors.
Survivors include his wife, Anntoni, and their nine children.
SCI FI AIRS “THE DEVIL AND A GUY NAMED WEBSTER”
Chode (voiced by Stephen Root) hires a guy named Webster (Emmanuel Lewis as himself) to litigate him out of a Faustian pact with the Devil on a very special April Fools episode of Tripping the Rift. "The Devil and a Guy Named Webster" airs Thursday, April 1 @ 10:30pm ET/PT, exclusively on SCI FI.
Emmanuel Lewis Guest Stars on a Very Special 'Tripping the Rift'
Tripping The Rift
NEW YORK, March 24 -- It's every April fool's dream - Webster
back in primetime!
When Chode sells his soul to the Devil to save his blobby purple behind, his crew searches desperately for a way out of the demonic pact. Looking back over history, they discover that a guy named Daniel Webster once successfully litigated his client out of a similar contract with the Devil. So they go back in time to get Webster to represent Chode. But, inevitably, the bumbling
crew screws things up -- instead of finding Daniel Webster in the 1800s, they end up on the set of Webster in 1983. Unaware of the error, they kidnap series' star Emmanuel Lewis and bring him back to the ship.
Emmanuel Lewis makes a special guest appearance as himself. Surreal.
Based on an award-winning webisode of the same name, Tripping the Rift is a humorous and scandalously sexy send-up of all things sci-fi. The series follows the adventures of the Jupiter 42, a smuggling vessel led by a stumpy purple alien named "Chode" (Stephen Root, News Radio) who, along with his
colorful group of misfit shipmates, battles archenemies and new obstacles in space each week. Chode's crew includes "Six" (Gina Gershon), a sexy cyborg who happens to be the most advanced android ever created; "Gus," (Maurice LaMarche, voice of "Brain" from Pinky & The Brain) Chode's sexually-confused and verbally-abused robot slave; "T'Nuk," (Gayle Garfinkle) the ship's
aesthetically-challenged pilot; and "Whip," (Rick Jones) Chode's teenaged slacker nephew. "Stuttering" John Melendez provides the halting voice of "Spaceship Bob," the fastest ship in the galaxy.
EMMANUEL LEWIS: THE E! TRUE HOLLYWOOD STORY
Emmanuel Lewis -- "People Thought I Was The Doll Come To Life. So I Would Have Different People Just Treating Me Very Strangely As Far As I Was Concerned Because They Wanted To Just Touch Me To See If I Was Real."
Los Angeles, June 18, 2003 - In the `80s, child star Emmanuel Lewis charmed America as TV’s cuddly orphan “Webster.” The sitcom turned the pint-sized actor into a television giant. Lewis performed for a U.S. President, danced with Sammy Davis Jr. and his best friend just happened to be the “King of Pop.” Behind the scenes, however, life on the sitcom set with Lewis’ co-stars was not as harmonious. In 1989, Lewis said farewell to his hit television series and goodbye to Hollywood. Lewis recognized his small stature prevented him from playing more adult roles and he spent most of the next decade out of the public spotlight, trying to decide whether his future included television. In this one-hour episode, Lewis sits down to expose his unique tale as an adored child to an obscure adult and express his eagerness for a comeback. Interviews for this episode include Emmanuel Lewis, along with his friends, family, and Webster producer Stu Silver. Emmanuel Lewis: The E! True Hollywood Story premieres Sunday, June 22 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

Hello Todd It is a big surprise to see such a site in my show's honor. Thank you for hosting it and being a fan club administrator. I am totally speech less. Jack Kruschen, a versatile character actor whose six decades in movies and television included an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for his 1960 role in "The Apartment," died on April 2. 2002, at the age of 80, following a long illness. News of his death, which was reported by the show business publication Variety, did not appear in major newspapers at the time. Known to many television viewers as Papa Papadapolis in the 1980's series "Webster," he was one of the stalwarts of radio, television and the movies, often playing tough guys early in his career and irascible but lovable neighbors later on. Jack Kruschen was born in Winnipeg, Canada, on March 20, 1922. He was discovered by CBS while acting in a student operetta production at Hollywood High School. His first job was on a Christmas radio special. After working for the Armed Forces Radio Service during World War II, he returned to network radio, doing voice characterizations for "The Danny Thomas Show," "Dragnet," "Sam Spade," "Gunsmoke" and other popular shows of the late 1940's and early 50's. Mr. Kruschen appeared on television almost from its inception, portraying cowboys, detectives or criminals in programs like "The Adventures of Superman," "Zorro," "Bonanza," "The Rifleman" and "Wanted: Dead or Alive." He assumed similar roles in many of his 75 films, playing a Southern bigot in "Cape Fear" (1962) and a gangster in Elvis Presley's "Follow That Dream" (1962). He was nearly ubiquitous in television in the 1970's and 1980's, appearing in episodes of many medical dramas, police shows and situation comedies, often returning to the same programs in several different roles. It was his role as Dr. Dreyfuss, the bemused and benevolent neighbor of Jack Lemmon who saves a suicidal Shirley MacLaine in "The Apartment," that presaged his success as the warm patriarch on "Webster" (1985 to 1987). In 1994 he played another Greek grandfather — one who dies while visiting the sitcom family — in an episode of "Full House." His final role was in the 1997 film "'Til There Was You."
An in-depth look at the psychological effects of finding fame at a young age. Dana Plato didn't believe Diff'rent Strokes was ill-fated. "I would have crashed and burned no matter what," the ex-primetimer said in 1997. And then, two years later, she crashed and burned for good - dead of an apparent suicide. She was 34 and, commonly perceived as the latest victim of something far greater than Diff'rent Strokes - Plato had succumbed to the former child star "curse." Or had she? Former Child Star is the first in-depth look at a generation's virtual peers - from Dana Plato to Gary Coleman, from Ricky Nelson to Rick Schroder and beyond. No mere where-are-they-now? retread, Former Child Star asks the question: Why are they now? Why do most ex-kid actors turn out just fine, while others dwell in tabloid (or worse) hell? Author Joal Ryan, the journalist and keeper of an acclaimed Web site on tv former child stars, is ready with answers. Tracing the behind-the-scenes history of the tv child actor from the 1950s to today, Ryan examines the successes of the Ron Howards, the trying times of the Gary Colemans, the burnouts of the Dana Platos. She finds that the real curse faced by these familiar faces is our "celebrity-or-bust" culture. Drawing on first-hand interviews with players who appeared on My Three Sons, The Brady Bunch, One Day at a Time, Diff'rent Strokes, and more, Ryan weaves a compelling tale that is as much a treatise on the culture of celebrity as it is a really cool book about kids we grew up watching grow up.
