(see this users gallery) Harley Jane Kozak plays Gillian Apple, a recently divorced mother of two whose life is turned upside down when a genie welcomes himself into her household, in Touchstone Television's "You Wish," a new half-hour comedy for ABC.
Her feature film credits include "Parenthood," "The Favor," and "Arachnophobia." Among Kozak's many primetime television series appearances are "Knightwatch" and "Harts of the West," as well as "Bringing Up Jack" and "Charlie Grace." She has also appeared in numerous television movies, including "So Proudly We Hail," "Unforgivable," "The Android Affair," "A Friend's Betrayal," ABC's "The Amy Fisher Story," and as a lead in the "Titanic" mini-series.
On stage, Kozak has graced productions of "Man of the Moment," "The Seagull," "Twelfth Night," "Idiot's Delight," "A Midsummer Night's Dream," "A Streetcar Named Desire," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof."
Born in Pennsylvania and raised in North Dakota and Nebraska, she first appeared on stage at age five in a college production of the opera "Dido and Aeneas," then broke gender barriers in the fourth grade when she played the title character in "Benjamin Franklin." At 19, having appeared in more than 30 plays, Kozak was accepted into the professional acting training program at NYU's School of the Arts (now known as Tisch School of the Arts). Upon completing the program three years later, she was cast in the feature film "The House on Sorority Row."
Kozak moved to Southern California after appearing on the soap opera "Texas." Subsequently, she spent two years on "Guiding Light" and one on "Santa Barbara," where her character met with a disastrous end when she was crushed to death by a giant neon letter "C."
Kozak lives in Los Angeles with her cats, April and Eddie. When not acting, she dedicates her life to friendship, writing novels, an enormous extended family, volunteer work, aerobics, political activism, and her fiancé. |
