(see this users gallery) Power Play aired from 1998 until 2000 on CTV and from June 14-21, 1999 on UPN.
Brett Parker ( Michael Riley) was a big-time New York-based sports agent who was involved in a shady deal to move the Hamilton Steelheads, the worst team in the NHL, to Houston. His deal would make him millions in under-the-table monies for parking and concession revinues. In order to get the league to approve the move, Parker and his coharts, including Colleen Blessed ( Kari Matchett), the team's bitchy president , had to show that their was no local fan support. Parker, though rotten to the core, surprisingly found himself caring for the team. Also featured were Duff ( Gordon Pinsent), the crusty old team owner who hired Parker to replace the team's general manager; Michelle (Caterina Scorsone), Parker's wayward teenage daughter, who was put in his custody after attempting a little embezzlement; Mark Simpson ( Dean McDermott), the team's captain and most beloved player; Renate ( Lori Alter), the sarcastic administrative assistant to the general manager; and Rose Thornton ( Krista Bridges), the shy sports reporter from the Hamilton Spectator.
Power Play was produced in Toronto and ran for two seasons on Canada's CTV Network. UPN picked it up after the first Canadian season but canceled it after only two episodes had aired.
