(see this users gallery) Pete and Gladys aired from September 1960 until September 1962 on CBS.
During his years as the sardonic next-door neighbor on December Bride, Pete Porter ( Harry Morgan) was always complaining about his scatterbrained, ineffectual wife, Gladys. She was never seen on that series but became the costar, in the person of Cara Williams, in this successor to December Bride. Along from the original series was Hilda Crocker ( Verna Felton), the nosy older woman friend who had tried to defend Gladys when Pete made some nasty comment about his wife. Gladys' Uncle Paul ( Gale Gordon) was seen occasionally during the first season and became a regular the second, as did the Porters' next-door neighbors Peggy and Ernie Briggs ( Mina Kolb, Joe Mantell) and Gladys' friend Nancy ( played by December Bride regular Frances Rafferty , in a different role). Gladys' nephew Bruce ( Bill Hinnant), who was attending a nearby college moved in with them in the fall of 1961. The conflict between the sincere, ingenuous, and often confused Gladys and sarcastic, deprecating Pete formed the crux of the stories in this series.
