Peter Loves Mary aired from October 1960 until May 1961 on NBC.
Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy, husband and wife in real life , here played Peter and Mary Lindsey ,a show -business couple adjusting to a move to the suburbs. The move from Manhattan to Oakdale affected the members of the household in different ways. Peter longed for the exciting life of the city, where all the show -business people with whom they were friendly congregated in such hangouts as Lindy's. Mary wanted to become involved in all the traditional suburban activities-local government, P.T.A., social causes, etc. The conflicts between their work in the city and their suburban life with housekeeper Wilma ( Bea Benaderet) and their two children , Leslie and Steve (Merry Martin, Gil Smith), produced the material for the stories in this series.
