(see this users gallery) Sweet Surrender aired from April until July 1987 on NBC.
Domesticity was rampant in this routine little comedy about a wife named Georgia ( Dana Delany) who decided to put her business career on hold and become a full time mom to her newborn baby Lynnie ( Rebecca and Sarah Simms) and young son , Bart ( Edan Gross). Hubby Ken ( Mark Blum) was understanding, although his swaggering single friend ( and coworker) Vaughn ( Christopher Rich) was constantly on hand to remind him that bachelorhood was more fun. Frank ( David Doyle) was Georgia's dad, Joyce ( Marjorie Lord) was Ken's mother, The Gafney's , Marty, Lyla, and son Taylor ( Thom Sharp, Louise Williams, Victor DiMattia) were friends, and Cak ( Viveka Davis) the flaky teenage babysitter. Everybody offered advice, but nobody really understood just how hard a full-time mom's life could be!
Five episodes were shown in a Saturday night time slot in the spring of 1987, temporarily replacing 227. A sixth episode was run on July 8th. Dana Delany went on to bigger fame a year later in an altogether different series, China Beach.

NBC's yuppie sitcom is artificially 'Sweet'
Sweet Surrender is a routine comedy about an ordinary family who's problems have more to do with baby's diaper rash than daddy's depression.
OK, this family is not all that ordinary since it's on TV. And it's not really a family, just actors pretending to be a family. Actors pretending to be a family whose concerns mirror those of the show's writers.
Their meeting is interrupted by a phone call from one of the writers' kids who's being chased in school by a girl who wants to kiss. The writers decide to write an episode about the incident, applying it to the 5-year-old character.
We're supposed to identify with that vignette, which hammers home the message of Sweet Surrender. This is your life, upscale, aging baby-boomers with 2.5 kids ( although 5 doesn't put in an appearance).
But isn't the baby-boomer generation indulgent enough? There's no need for one more lame comedy that panders.
Sweet Surrender panders with pampers. The Holden Family has all the necessary items . Ken Holden ( Mark Blum) does something that requires he wear a tie by day. When he comes home from work, he's greeted by wife Georgia ( Dana Delany), 5-year-old son Bart the brat ( Edan Gross) and baby Linny.
The first episode? Bart's first day at school complicates Mom and Dad's plans for an evening out.
Sweet? Not sweet enough to surrender to.
