(see this users gallery) Highcliffe Manor aired from April until May 1979 on NBC.
This short-lived comedy was a sendup of the old, Gothic horror tales. The setting was Highcliffe Manor, a huge stone mansion located on an Island off the coast of Massachusetts. Helen Blacke ( Shelley Fabares) had inherited the place and controlling interest in the Blacke Foundation, when her husband died in an explosion in his laboratory. Despite the fact that everyone there seemed to be plotting her demise , Helen cheerily went about running Highcliffe oblivious to all that was going on around her.Populating the manor was a collection of eccentrics including Rev. Glenville ( Stephen McHattie), a girl-chasing clergyman from South Africa; Frances ( Eugenie Ross-Leming), a mad scientist working her evil magic on freshly stolen corpses; Felix (Gerald Gordon), the former assistant to Helen's husband; Bram (Christian Marlowe), an attractive Frankenstein Monster created by Frances with limbs lifted from an erector set and virtually nonexistant memory, Cheng (Harold Sakata)Frances's gigantic servant; Dr. Lester and Dr. Sanchez (David Byrd, Luis Avalos) , two evil men trying to take over the foundation and Smythe ( Ernie Hudson), valet to the late Mr. Blacke.. Wendy (Audrey Landers) was the girl-next-door secretary who was romantically attractive to Rev. Glenville and Rebecca ( Jenny O'Hara) was the eerie maid.
