Monday, May 21: Oh, here's something. A TV-movie, A VACATION IN HELL. Same director as RICH MAN, POOR MAN, David Greene. This man is a genius and he didn't even write the ad copy: "A swinging blonde. A mother and her teenage daughter. A love-starved woman. And one man. Their luxury vacation suddenly turns into a nightmare struggle for survival against the untamed jungle and their own savage passions!" Wow, it lives up to all that too! Takes place at a Club Med, very thinly disguised. Four women and a man go adventuring, exploring the rest of their island in a spirit of playful imperialism, but then they're stranded. And then they kill a native very, very accidentally. And then they start to fight. The dumb blonde is unhappy because, as she puts it, she "just can't think without my makeup!" The nymphet is annoying her divorcée mother by teasing the man. The man is annoying the feminist just by existing. She socks him in the jaw. Later, he is killed while doing something brave. Says the feminist: "Somebody must've told him when he was a little boy that he was supposed to handle everything by himself. Oh, the poor fool!" |
