(see this users gallery) Strangers with Candy aired from April 1999 until October 2000 on Comedy Central.
In this "sick-com," a 46-year-old , sex and drug obsessed ex-con returned to high school as a freshman, bringing all her dreadful habits to high school life. Sweet, innocent, buck-toothed Jerri ( Amy Sedaris) had been a teenage runaway; she then spent the next 32 years as a "boozer, a user, and a loser," and didn't understand why the popular kids now didn't want to be her friends. Mr. Noblet ( Stephen Colbert) was the clueless geography teacher, Mr. Jellineck ( Paul Dinello) the somewhat hipper art teacher, and Blackman ( Greg Hollimon) the deep-voiced narcissistic principal of Flatpoint High. When not disrupting school life, Jerri lived at home with her caratonic father, stepmom, and disdainful teenage stepbrother ( Roberto Gari).
Created by Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, Paul Dinello, and writer Mitch Rouse, all former members of the Second City Comedy troupe, and promoted as a parody of the preachy Afterschool Specials.
