(see this users gallery) Struck by Lightning aired from September until October 1979 on CBS.
Jack Elam played Frankenstein for laughs in this extremely short-lived comedy. " Frank" ( Elam) was the caretaker of the ramshackle Brightwater Inn, on the Old Boston Post Road in modern-day rural Massachusetts. Ted Stein ( Jeffrey Kramer), a young science teacher who had recently inherited the inn, planned to sell it until he found out that Frank was in fact the 231-year-old Frankenstein monster, and that he, Ted, was the great-great-grandson of the original Dr. Frankenstein. Frank convinced Ted to keep the inn open and try to re-create his ancestor's life-sustaining formula. Unlike the monster of legend, Frank was kind and gentile, if a bit clumsey. Hanging out around the inn was Nora ( Millie Slavin), who had been running the place before Ted arrived, her young son, Brian ( Jeff Cotler), a long-time boarder named Glenn ( Bill Erwin), and real-estae agent Walt Calvin ( Richard Stahl), who wanted Ted to sell the place through him.
Struck by Lightning was struck by bad ratings , and the program was canceled after only three telecasts.
