A League Of Their Own aired from April 10-24, 1993 on CBS.
Period comedy about the Rockford Peaches, one of the teams in The Women's Professional Baseball League during World War 2 when the male players were serving overseas. Jimmy Dugan ( Sam McMurray), a former major league baseball player, was the manager. Among the women of the Peaches were Dottie ( Carey Lowell), the star catcher; Kit ( Christine Elise), Dottie's younger sister and one of the team's pitchers; Betty ( Tracy Reiner), a pitcher whose husband had been killed in combat; Marla ( Megan Cavanaugh), the slugger who had almost been overlooked because she wasn't pretty;Evelyn ( Tracy Nelson), another strong hitter; Mae ( Wendy Mackkena), the sultry man-hungry outfielder; and Doris ( Katie Rich), the outspoken but funny infielder. Mr. Harvey , the demanding owner of the league was played by Garry Marshall ( the creater of Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, Mork And Mindy etc...) and whose sister Penny Marshall was one of the producers of the series.
As sometimes happens with hitters in real baseball, A League Of Their Own struck out after only 3 episodes had aired. On August 13 CBS ran the other 2 episodes that had been completed prior to the series' quick cancelation earlier that year.
Based on the 1992 theatrical movie of the same name starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, and Madonna. Reprising their film roles were Tracy Reiner and Megan Cavanaugh.

'League' star Elise picks up some big-time coaching
By Donna Gable
USA TODAY
Christine Elise is playing in her own field of dreams.
Saturday at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS, she steps up to the mound as Kit, a feisty pitcher in A League of Their Own.
The series based on Penny Marshall's 1992 movie follows the Rockford Peaches, a 1940s womens baseball team.
Elise-who left Boston for Los Angeles to attend UCLA-says working with Marshall (" my inspiration") was as rewarding as turning a double play.
" Penny has terrific comic talent and would show us where are 'marks' were by physically moving around the set," says Elise from the Hollywood home she shares with Beverly Hills 90210 star Jason Priestly, three dogs, two cats and a wolf.
Marshall played the same positions ( executive producer/director) in the first episode of the TV version as she did for the movie.
Elise picked up some tricks from Marshall ,including the well-timed steal.
" She didn't really give me advice," she says. " I found it more useful to steal her shtick."
To prepare for her role, Elise shagged a few balls and dug a few grounders with Priestly.
So who's the better player?
" Baseball's not really Jason's game," she says tactfully, adding, " He'd beat me in hockey."
But as in any sport, it's not who wins but how you play the game. " Would you believe in a cast of 15 women that there's no cattiness or competitiveness? It's true. There's a real team spirit on set."
