Sixties superstar Julie Andrews returned to television-very briefly-in this rather pedestrian family sitcom that, according to TV Guide, " looked like something that came out of a time capsule buried around 1972." Julie Carlyle( Julie Andrews), was a fabulously successful tv variety show star ( when is the last time you saw one of those?), who abruptly decided to give up her hectic celebrity lifestyle to marry the man of her dreams, veterinarian Sam ( James Farentino), and move with him to Iowa to help quietly raise his 2 lovely children .
Julie's producer and best friend " Wooley" ( Eugene Roche) was aghast, but reluctantly agreed to move the show from New York to Sioux City. Even greater adjustments were necessary for Sam's not-so-quiet kids, Allie and Adam ( Hayley Tyrie, Rider Strong), who now had a celebrity mom, and by Julie Herself, who found the little adventures of family life just as hectic as her old world. Not for long though.
Julie Andrews' husband Blake Edwards was the producer.
