(see this users gallery) Hizzonner aired from May until June 1979 on NBC.
Mayor Cooper ( David Huddleston), was a widower with 2 grown children: Annie ( Kathy Cronkite), a feminist civil-rights attorney and James ( Will Seltzer), a hippie affiliated with a communal organization called The Wilderness Cult. As the well loved chief executive of a small midwestern city, Cooper was basically honest, but not above doing things that were politically to his advantage. Timmons ( Don Galloway) was his chief of staff; Ginny ( Diana Muldaur), his personal secretary; Melanie ( Gina Hecht), one of the other secretaries at city hall; and Nails ( Mickey Deems), the childhood friend who served as both bodyguard and chauffeur. When things started to get out of hand, Mayor Cooper would break into song, and there was one musical number in each episode of this short-lived series.
Actress Kathy Cronkite, who played Annie, was the daughter of CBS News's Walter Cronkite.
