Fathers And Sons ran from April until May 1986 on NBC.
The focus of this limited-run series was on the relationships of a group of adolescent boys with each other and with Buddy Landeau( Merlin Olsen), one of the boys' fathers. Buddy a former athlete, loved sports and served as the coach of various little league teams. The boys included Buddy's chubby son Lanny( Jason Late), whose involvement in sports seemed to be more a function of his father's enthusiasm than his own; Sean (Andre Gower), the budding ladies man of the group; Matt ( Ian Fried), the resident intellectual whose father was unable to spend as much time with his son as he would have liked; and Brandon ( Hakeem), a diminutive ball of fire who almost made up in energy and determination what he lacked in size.
Rick Nelson appeared in the pilot episode as Sean's father, Michael Flynn. It was his final television appearance. The former star of The Adventures Of Ozzie And Harriet had died in a plane crash on December 31, 1985 and this television show aired a few months later.
