The Ed Wynn Show aired from September 1958 until January 1959 on NBC.
During the mid 1950's Ed Wynn was not often seen on Television; he made a triumphant return in 1956 , however, on Playhouse 90's " Requim For A Heavyweight." That performance established him, after 50 years in show business as a character actor. In this half hour sitcom, he starred as John Beamer, an elderly widower whose children had also died, leaving him with the responsibility of raising his 2 granddaughters-Laurie( Jacklyn O'Donnell), age 18 and Midge ( Sherry Alberoni), age 9. With unbound enthusiasm and optimism he helped not only his own family, but his friends, his neighbors, and anyone else he met. At one point he even got himself elected to the city council.
