(see this users gallery) Buddies aired from March 5th until March 27th, 2000 on ABC.
Two Chicago buddies, one black and one white, went into business together despite the objections of their racially challenged elders in this short-lived sitcom. Dave ( Dave Chappelle), was black, and John ( Christopher Gartin), was white, and they had been friends since childhood, and joked about everything, including their racial differences. Their business " Hi Intensity" was a small film and videotaping company which they hoped would lead to Hollywood, but for now they settled for taping bar mitzvahs and weddings. Supporting them were John's nutty new bride, Lorraine ( Paula Cale), and Dave's spunky girlfriend and wannabe bride, Phyllis ( Tanya Wright). Lobbing sarcastic comments into the mix were Lorrain's drawling biggoted mom, Mo ( " the white-trash queen") ( Judith Ivey), and Dave's rigid father Henry (Richard Roundtree), their landlord whose motto was " black-owned, black-operated".
Buddies was a spin-off from Home Improvement with the characters first beeing seen on the March 14, 1995, episode of the latter series ( with Jim Breuer as John).
