(The) Ann Jillian ( Show) ran from November 1989 until August 1990 on NBC.


A single-mom sitcom starring Ann Jillian as a widow who, after the death of her fireman husband, decided to move from NY to the northern California villiage of Marvel-the town where she and her late husband had honeymooned. Teenage daughter Lucy( Lisa Rieffel) was mortified at the thought of going to California (" They're all gonna be tan and blond and say things like ' bitchin' and ' shoot the crawl'...we're gonna lose our New York edge"), but Mom was determined to start a new life. Start she did with a job at a gift shop run by a sarcastic Easterner named Mrs. Hufnagel( Cynthia Harris). Local teens included overhormoned Kaz( Zachary Rosencrantz), stuck-up Melissa( Chantel Rivera-Batisse), and insecure Robin( Amy Lynne).Kaz's easygoing Grandfather Duke( Noble Willingham) dropped in from time to time to try to help Ann and Lucy adjust, before their early departure to sitcom Heaven.
