TV PREVIEW/BY MATT ROUSH
DEY-BREAK
The biggest news is Annie Potts taking over from Susan Dey as the female lead of Love & War. From her energized and spiky entrance , Potts seems to be playing " War." What's love got to do with it? Beats me.
" Eat dirt!" she growls at just-dumped Jack Stein ( Jay Thomas). " You wish!" he barks back.
And so it goes in the saucy, bluesy setting of the Blue Shamrock, where the show will mostly be set now. New chef Potts, in a new 'do' as short as her temper, is described as " a little tense." But she's boarderline psycho, rallying against men as she smacks people with a dead fish.
Love & War is more like a dead horse, the Wings of Monday night, alive only because of its producer's clout. When Potts asks, " What was I thinking running from one disaster to the other?" you think she should have thought twice before taking this on Designing Women's rebound. |
