(see this users gallery) William Ragsdale was very fortunate to grow up in a small town that had a very well-established and enthusiastically supported community arts center. At a young age, he saw his first play at the center, "The Wizard of Oz," and was overwhelmed by the sight of children his own age acting and singing the parts of the Munchkins. After seeing how the grownups were just sitting in the theater loving every moment of the play and applauding, he knew he wanted to be a part of the acting world and began attending children's theater classes.
Through his high school and college years, Ragsdale acted in many plays and musicals. He attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, where he received a B.A. in humanities, focusing most of his studies on religion. He then attended the Drama Studio London's American school in Berkeley, California, studying and performing in a number of Shakespearean and other "classical" plays.
His extensive list of stage work includes "Getting Away With Murder" and "Biloxi Blues" on Broadway; as well as "The Doctor Is Out," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "Bleacher Bums," "Can Can," "Lion in Winter," "Hayfever," "Louisiana Cavalier," "Company" and the national tour of "Broadway Bound."
On television, Ragsdale starred in the series, "American Pie" and "Herman's Head." He has guest starred in recurring roles on "Hope and Gloria" and "Ellen"; and starred in the made-for-television movie, "Frankenstein: The College Years."
His feature film credits include "Isn't It Romantic," "Mannequin II," "Fright Night," "Fright Night II," "Smooth Talk," "Nights and Weekends" and "Screams of a Winternight."
Ragsdale loves to spend time outdoors and enjoys sailing, bike riding, tennis and hiking.
He is single and currently lives in Los Angeles with his dog, Beary.
