(see this users gallery) Two-time Emmy nominee Susan Sullivan is well known to television audiences for her starring role as Maggie in the long-running hit series, "Falcon Crest," not to mention her 11 years as spokeswoman for Tylenol and her recurring role on "The George Carlin Show." She has also starred in the series, "It's a Living," "Rich Man, Poor Man," "Julie Farr, MD" and the short-lived but critically acclaimed "The Monroes."
Born in New York, Sullivan attended Hofstra University on a drama scholarship. On Broadway, she starred in "Jimmy Shine" opposite Dustin Hoffman; and in "The Beauty Part," where she established a lifelong friendship with its author, S.J. Perelman. Her extensive list of regional theater credits includes the San Francisco production of Jane Chambers' "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove," "Fifth of July" at the Mark Taper Forum, the National Touring Company's production of "Uncle Vanya," as well as "The Three Sisters" and "Mourning Becomes Electra," among others. She also appeared in "Twelfth Night," "Macbeth" and "The Winter's Tale" for PBS. Coincidentally, Sullivan and her "Dharma & Greg" co-star, Mitchell Ryan, both belong to the Matrix Theater group where, this past summer, she starred in J.B. Priestley's "Dangerous Corner."
In addition to her series roles, Sullivan has starred in the successful miniseries, "Rage of Angels," as well as in numerous telefilms, including "The Ordeal of Dr. Mudd," "Panic on Page One," "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do," "The New Maverick," "The Incredible Hulk" and "Midway."
Sullivan has just completed the independent film, "Show and Tell," as well as "My Best Friend's Wedding" with Julia Roberts.
Susan Sullivan is a founding member of the Celebrity Action Council at the Los Angeles Mission. She serves on the boards of the Felice and the Museum of Natural History; and also gives her time to the Arthritis Foundation and Save the Children.
She is bicoastal with homes on the east and west coasts, and shares her life with noted psychologist and author Connell Cowan.
