With her combination of beauty and comedic talent, Téa Leoni has established a career that encompasses both television and film roles. Describing Nora Wilde, the character she portrays in "The Naked Truth," Leoni says, "Nora is the ultimate optimist, although it's really more accurate to say that she's a lunatic -- she just keeps pushing on, and she always goes over the mountain when it would be easier and smarter to just go around."
Born and raised in New York City, Leoni's interest in acting was encouraged by her grandmother, a former Broadway actress. Nicknamed "Sarah Bernhardt" as a child because of her melodramatic tendencies, Leoni didn't pursue her craft immediately. Instead, she studied anthropology and psychology at Sarah Lawrence College and then took time off from school to travel, living in Tokyo, Italy and St. Croix. Upon her return to the U.S., Leoni landed one of the coveted roles in "Angels '88," a spinoff of the popular series "Charlie's Angels," and relocated to Los Angeles. Viewers will also remember Leoni as the flamboyant beauty Alicia in the comedy series "Flying Blind."
On the big screen, Leoni recently earned praise from moviegoers and critics for her role as an adoption agency worker in the comedy "Flirting With Disaster," in which she co-starred with Ben Stiller, Patricia Arquette and Mary Tyler Moore. She also appeared with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the action-comedy hit "Bad Boys." Her other feature-film credits include Blake Edwards' "Switch," "A League of Their Own" and "Wyatt Earp." |
