Jonathan Penner is a versatile creative talent with a thriving career as an actor, writer and Academy Award-nominated producer. Penner describes his character on "The Naked Truth," photographer Nick Columbus, as "a man driven by the pursuit of a thrill; a guy who loves fast money and faster women." A native of New York City, Penner graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and went to London to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Returning to the U.S., Penner appeared in the off-Broadway productions of "This Wooden O," "What the Butler Saw" and "Blue Is for Boys."
At the Texas Shakespeare Festival, he performed in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "Twelfth Night." In Los Angeles, he co-produced the Beverly Hills Playhouse production of "Zastrozzi: The Master of Discipline," and his performance in the title role earned him a Dramalogue Award.
Penner co-wrote, co-produced and starred in "Down on the Waterfront," a short film directed by his wife, Stacy Title. The film earned them both Academy Award nominations in 1993. He also co-executive produced and starred in "The Last Supper," a feature-length black comedy. His other film credits include "White Palace," "Dragon" and "Down Periscope." Recently, he completed filming a co-starring role on "Wedding Bell Blues" with Illeana Douglas.
On television, Penner starred in the series "Grapevine" and had a recurring role in "The Nanny." He recently appeared with George Wendt in "Anarchy TV."
