(see this users gallery) In "The Single Guy," a sophisticated comedy from writer/actor Brad Hall ("Saturday Night Live," "Brooklyn Bridge"), Jonathan Silverman ("Brighton Beach Memoirs," "Weekend at Bernie's") stars as one of the last single people among a close circle of friends. His life is a roller-coaster ride of blind dates, "fix-ups" and romantic adventures.
"The Single Guy" became an immediate hit in its debut season (1995-96). It ranked No. 6 among households, with a 16.7 rating and a 26 share; and No. 5 among adults 18-49, the demographic group most sought after by advertisers.

Despite being smart, witty and attractive, fledgling novelist Jonathan Eliot (Silverman) seems to be one of the only people he knows who remains a bachelor, but he has plenty of matchmakers working on his behalf.
Joining the cast this season is Olivia d'Abo ("The Wonder Years"), who plays Marie, an attractive English woman who moves into Jonathan's apartment building after a messy divorce, and frequently works as a voice-over artist at Sam's studio. Shawn Michael Howard ("Flirting With Disaster"), also plays a new member of the ensemble, Russell, a first-year law student who works at a bagel restaurant that Jonathan and his pals frequent.
Returning as Jonathan's best pal is Sam (Joey Slotnick, "Twister"), an only slightly lunatic recording studio engineer, and his dry-as-a-good-martini wife, Trudy (Ming-Na Wen, "ER", "The Joy Luck Club"), who runs a SoHo art gallery. Rounding out the cast again this season is Oscar winner Ernest Borgnine ("Marty"; "McHale's Navy") as Jonathan and Marie's jovial doorman, Manny.
"The Single Guy" is from Castle Rock Entertainment in association with NBC Studios. Hall is the executive producer and creator. |
