Actor Joey Slotnick returns for a second season on "The Single Guy" as lively Sam Sloane, a happily married sound engineer and best pal to Jonathan Silverman's character.
Slotnick was born in Chicago, but he and his family moved to Las Vegas when he was 11. While he was in grade school, his mother encouraged him to join a children's theater group, The Rainbow Company, where he took part in his first play, a production of "Pinocchio." He continued to pursue his interest in theater throughout his school years.
Knowing he wanted to make acting his occupation, Slotnick enrolled in Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Greer Garson Award for his four years of work in numerous college theater productions.
He returned to Chicago in search of experience and work in the theater. Of the many productions he starred in, some of his favorites are "The Third Voyage," "The Master & Margarita" and "Up Against It," all produced by Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company.
In 1992, Slotnick made his feature-film debut in "A League of Their Own." When he auditioned, director Penny Marshall was so impressed that she immediately cast him and beefed up his role as an admirer of Rosie O'Donnell's character.
Slotnick starred this summer with Helen Hunt as one of the storm chasers in the box-office hit "Twister." His television credits include roles on "Ellen" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."
Slotnick lives in Los Angeles. His leisure activities include photography, traveling and spending time with friends. His birthday is October 2. |
