Shawn Michael Howard joins NBC's "The Single Guy" this fall as Russell, a first-year law student at New York University who works at a bagel restaurant that Jonathan (series star Jonathan Silverman) and his pals frequent.
A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of Arts, Howard received his first acting break in an AT&T commercial directed by and starring Spike Lee. Ironically, Howard will portray Spike Lee in the upcoming feature-film spoof "Plump Fiction."
Recently seen in the feature films "The Cable Guy" with Jim Carrey and "Flirting With Disaster," he also appeared in the basketball movies "Sunset Park" and "Above the Rim." His television credits include David Kelley's new comedy "The Practice," along with "Nash Bridges," "Married ... With Children" and NBC's "Law & Order."
For the past five years, Howard has written songs and performed lead vocals with the New York-based alternative-rock band Invisible Culture, which has opened for such acts as the Spin Doctors and Blues Traveler. Howard is an accomplished guitarist and pianist.
Born and raised in Newark, N.J., Howard lives in Los Angeles. His birthday is July 31. |
