(see this users gallery) David Strickland portrays The Gate magazine's music critic, whose fixation with MTV has earned him an extremely limited attention span. Born in Glen Cove, N.Y., and raised in Princeton, N.J., Strickland never thought about pursuing acting as a career until his family moved to the coastal Los Angeles suburb of Pacific Palisades while he was in high school. Instead of college, he joined a theater company and began performing.
He and a friend began writing comedy sketches together, which they have since presented at numerous Los Angeles venues. To gain some acting experience -- and get a few free meals -- he also participated in 64 student films.
He went on to earn guest-starring roles on "Roseanne" and "Dave's World." He also had recurring roles on "Sister, Sister" and NBC's "Mad About You" as Paul Reiser's backstabbing co-worker at the Explorer Channel, who eventually got fired along with Paul.
Strickland's theater credits include " Biloxi Blues," Bye Bye Birdie," Danny and the Deep Blue Sea," Pizza Man" and I Won't Dance."
He currently resides in the Los Angeles area. In his spare time, he golfs, plays a mean game of paddle-tennis and has become obsessed with making fruit smoothies. Strickland's birthday is October 14. |
