(see this users gallery) Nestor Carbonell portrays the magazine's suave photographer, whom he describes as being "the kind of guy who thinks he's much sexier than he actually is." Although Carbonell was born in New York City, he was raised in 13 different locations across the globe, and his native language is Spanish. His father's job with an international company took the family to Mexico, Venezuela, Florida, Connecticut and London, among other places. As a result, Carbonell didn't learn English until he was ten years old. Although he enjoyed discovering the cultures of each new residence, his favorite is London, perhaps because his formative years were spent there.
Once back in the United States, he attended the all-boys Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, followed by Harvard University, where he earned a degree in English. It was at Harvard that he was first introduced to acting: a first-year drama course led to his performing in a number of school plays. After graduating -- and convincing his parents his Ivy League education would not be wasted -- Carbonell moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. He immediately began winning guest-starring roles on such series as "Law & Order," "Melrose Place," "A Different World" and "The John Larroquette Show." He eventually became a series regular on the short-lived show "Muscle," portraying Gianni, the resident gigolo. He has also appeared on the daytime dramas "As the World Turns," "All My Children" and "Loving."
In addition to starring in the Harvard productions of "Extremities," "A View From the Bridge," "House Games" and "The Tempest," Carbonell has appeared in the off-Broadway production of the two-person play "A Silent Thunder" and "The Doctor is Out" at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre. His feature-film credits include "Trial of Evidence," "Spike of Bensonhurst" and "Big Time."
Carbonell currently lives in Los Angeles, where he enjoys reading, writing and playing sports in his spare time. His birthday is December 1. |
