(see this users gallery) NBC's Saturday-morning comedy series "Hang Time" returns for a second season with a new team and a new attitude. Combining comedy and sports, "Hang Time" follows the exploits of the Deering Tornados, a boys basketball team in Indiana with a secret weapon, a female player with a great jump shot. After winning the state basketball championship last season, the Tornados must adjust to a few changes. This season, the team will have three new first-string players and a new head cheerleader.
Returning to the series are popular teen stars Daniella Deutscher as Julie Connor, the team's first female player; Megan Parlen as Mary Beth Pepperton, the school socialite and team manager; and Chad Gabriel as Danny Mellon, the team comedian who uses his unique approach to life to make up for his perceived insecurities. Also returning is real-life two-time NBA All-Star Reggie Theus (Chicago Bulls, Sacramento Kings) as Coach Bill Fuller, a Deering High alumnus and a former NBA star.
The new additions to the cast this season are Kevin Bell, Anthony Anderson, Paige Peterson and Michael Sullivan. Bell portrays the team's star player, Josh Sanders, a fierce competitor with a great sense of team loyalty and sportsmanship. Anderson plays Theodore "Teddy" Brodis, a huskily built basketball player who happens to be Coach Fuller's godson. Peterson stars as Amy Wright, an optimistic and confident teenage girl who is the head cheerleader for Deering High. Sullivan plays Vince D'Amata, a street-smart kid from Chicago who is arrogant, egotistical and wastes no time in making girls a top priority, second only to basketball.
The series' popularity continues to grow oversees. "Hang Time" is now seen in over 15 countries, including Australia, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Israel and the United Kingdom.
"Hang Time" has been running concurrently on TCC, the London-based cable and satellite channel, in a first-ever European/U.S. simulcast.
"Hang Time" is a Peter Engel Production in association with NBC Studios. |
