People's Choice aired on NBC from October 1955 until September 1958.

Socrates ( Sock)Miller ( Jackie Cooper) was a government naturalist who had been elected to the city council, a job he took with great seriousness. His interest in helping the community occasionally got him in trouble with Mayor Peoples ( Paul Maxey), a problem that was compounded by the fact that the mayor's daughter, Mandy ( Pat Breslin), was Sock's girlfriend. Making numerous observations to the audience, although no one in the cast could hear her, was Cleo ( voice of Mary Jane Croft), Sock's pet basset hound. At the end of the 1956-1957 season Sock and Mandy were secretly married. They made it public early in the 1957-1958 season, following his graduation from Law School. He got a job selling homes in the neighboring community of Barkerville, for the developer Mr. Barker, and he and Mandy were given one of the homes to live in. Moving in with them was Sock's freeloading friend Rollo ( Dick Wesson). After the move, neither the mayor nor Sock's Aunt Gus ( Margaret Irving) were seen on a weekly basis.
