(see this users gallery) This series which was subtitled "Hey Mulligan" aired during the 1954-1955 season on NBC.
Mickey Mulligan (Mickey Rooney) was a young man working as a page at the NBC studios in Hollywood. His aspirations, however, went far beyond his lowly position. He really wanted to be a serious dramatic actor, and was only using the page job as a springboard to bigger things. At night Mickey attended dramatic school, with less-than-spectacular results. By day his thespian ambitions were not encouraged by either his peers or superiors at NBC. But there was no keeping Mickey down. The only people that did encourage him were his father ( played by Regis Toomey), and his girlfriend Pat ( played by Carla Balenda), who worked as a secretary at the studios. Mickey lived with his mother ( played by Claire Carleton ), a one-time star in burlesque, and his father, a lifelong cop. Ironically, in real life the position of page at NBC is widely regarded as an excellent starting job in the broadcasting industry, and many former pages have gone on to become stars or top-level executives. The official title of this series was The Mickey Rooney Show; however it was also known by its subtitle, Hey Mulligan.
