(see this users gallery) Cover Up ran on CBS from September 1984 until July 1985.
They traveled around the world on fashion assignments-Dani ( Jennifer O'Neill), the gorgeous professional photographer, and Mac ( Jon-Erik Hexum), her handsome male model. At least that was their public job; actually they were secret agents working on a freelance basis for a mysterious U.S. government agency. They were well-suited to their clandestine roles-Mac was a former Green Baret who had served in Vietnam and was a specialist in karate, chemical interrogation, and foreign languages. Dani was no novice either, having been married to a secret agent whose death she and Mac avenged in the series premiere episode. Under the loose supervision of Towler ( Richard Anderson), they traveled from country to country, staging fashion shows and photo sessions with their scantly clad models, while rescuing Americans from dangerous situations. Rick ( Mykel T. Williamson), was Dani's phographic assistant and helped both her and Mac on espionage assignments, while Gretchen, Billie, and Ashley, ( Ingrid Anderson, Irena Ferris, Dana Sparks),were her most frequently used models. Sadly on October 12, 1984, Star Jon-Erik Hexum while reloading blanks into a prop gun, accidentally shot himself in the head. The force of the shot proved fatal, and Hexum died a few days later; his heart was transplanted into a critically needy recipient. ( The series carried a tribute to Hexum at the end of the next televised episode, read by Co-Star Richard Anderson, but unfortunately Hexum's name was misspelled.) Following Hexum's death, the producers frantically searched for a replacement, and ultimately came up with Australian actor Anthony Hamilton as Jack Striker, who was introduced on November 24th. Glen A. Larson created the series. |
