Poster: Stuck In The '70's  (see this users gallery)

Live-In aired from March until June 1989 on CBS.

Set in suburban New Jersey , not far from New York City, this light comedy was about the impact of an attractive young Australian Live-in housekeeper ( Lisa played by Lisa Patrick )on the family for whom she worked. Ed and Sarah Matthews ( Hugh Maguire, Kimberly Farr) both worked full time, he operating a sporting-goods store and she as the clothing buyer for a department store. They had hired Lisa to care for newborn Melissa ( Allison and Melissa Lindsay), so that Sarah could go back to work. Perky Lisa got along with everyone, although Mrs. Matthews had occasional misgivings about how much more time Lisa spent with Melissa than she could. Danny ( Chris Young), the older Matthews son, was forever fantasizing about becoming Lisa's boyfriend, and found it difficult to accept her as just a friend. Gator ( Lightfield Lewis) was his best buddy at school, and Muriel ( Jenny O'Hara) was a good friend of Sarah's.

The theme song was " Happy Together."

A Review From The New York Times

Teenage Lust
by John J. O'Connor
Published: March 20, 1989

Taking its cue from such established series as ''Who's the Boss?'' and ''Mr. Belvedere,'' ''Live-In'' offers still another instance of a stranger moving into a household as paid caretaker. If both Mommy and Daddy or the single parent must work these days, someone's got to look after the kids. In ''Live-In,'' the Sternin & Fraser Ink production this evening at 8, the au pair is a young Australian import who could pass as an Olivia Newton-John doll. Lisa Wells (Lisa Patrick) joins the Mathews family primarily to look after baby Melissa but she will clearly spend a good deal of time fending off the obvious intentions of teen-age Danny (Chris Young).

Deciding that ''the chick is obviously frigid,'' Danny and his gross friend Gator (Lightfield Lewis) hit upon the only solution: ''We've gotta see her naked.'' Drilling a hole in the wall between Danny's bedroom and the bathroom, they watch Lisa getting undressed for a shower. Actually, they only get to see her bare legs, but the titillation is not likely to disappoint any real or budding Humbert Humberts in the audience. Then Lisa discovers the hole and gets to see considerably more of Danny, which leads to some pointed banter during dinner about new potatoes and ''immature things.'' And so it goes in early-evening teenland on American television these days. What was that about the Japanese taking over?
