Poster: Stuck In The '70's  (see this users gallery)

My World And Welcome To It aired on NBC from September 1969 until September 1970.

My World And Welcome To It was loosely based on the works of the late James Thurber. John Monroe ( William Windom), was a writer and cartoonist whose overly active imagination was often as much of a problem as a blessing. As with most Thurber men, John was vaguely unsatisfied with his work, concerned about the direction his life was taking, and mortified by women. In his imaginary secret world he was king, but in real life he was somewhat dominated by his wife, and terrified by his daughter. He would constantly muse about the predatory nature of women and was convinced that their sole function was to make his life miserable. Each episode opened with John making observations on a given situation before walking into an animated Thurberlike home in which his wife was reaching around to devour him. The use of Thurberlike cartoons to picture John's fears as well as his dream world gave this series a pleasant aspect of fantasy. Other than John's wife Ellen (Joan Hotchkis), and daughter Lydia ( Lisa Gerritsen), the only 2 regulars were his publisher, Hamilton Greeley ( Harold J. Stone), and cynical fellow writer Phillip Jensen (Henry Morgan). This critically acclaimed sitcom won the emmy for outstanding comedy series for the 1969-1970 season, the only one hit wonder ever to do so.
