Black Tie Affair aired from May until June 1993 on NBC.
Jay Tarses produced this offbeat comedy satirizing 1940's detective movies that aired briefly in the summer of 1993. Dave Brodsky ( Bradley Whitford) was a world-weary San Francisco private eye who ran a used record store on the side. His latest caper was tailing philandering clothing-catalog tycoon Christopher Cody (John Calvin)on behalf of his suspicious socialite wife Margo ( Kate Capshaw). No sooner did Brodsky uncover Cody's love item, voluptuous model Eve Saskatchewan ( Alison Elliott), than he found himself entangled in a murder case and in romantic liaisons with both Margo and Eve. Lucky guy.The serialized story followed the case through nonsensical twists and turns for four weeks before NBC abruptly pulled the plug, leaving the Cody caper to Unsolved Mysteries.
