Brother's Keeper aired from September 1998 until July 1999 on ABC.
Imagine The Odd Couple plus a kid, and you pretty much have the premise of this lightweight sitcom. Widower Porter Waide (William Ragsdale) was an uptight young San Francisco history professor, oh-so carefully raising his young son Oscar (Justin Cooper)to be as quiet and logical as himself. Who should arrive on his doorstep , ready to move in and disrupt his orderly world, then his free-wheeling brother Bobby ( Sean O'Brien)? Bobby, it seems, was an NFL star kicker who'd just been traded to the hometown team. There was just one catch to his new multi-million-dollar contract: trouble-prone Bobby was required to find a "responsible adult" to live with. And the most responsible adult he knew was brother Porter.
Little Oscar hit it off immediately with his fun-loving uncle, while Porter fussed and stewed and tried to keep everyone down to Earth. Dena (Bess Meyer) was the team's sports agent who had been given the unenviable task of keeping Bobby out of trouble.
