M*A*S*H Season Six features fan favorite episodes such
as the one hour season premiere "Fade Out, Fade In;"
"Fallen Idol" and "Major Toppo." Some famous faces
that guest star inclue James Cromwell, Bernard Fox,
George Lindsey, and Hamilton Camp. Each disc has
eight episodes each in original airdate order.
The DVD packaging is pretty nice and comes with a nice
booklet listing the season six episodes & synopsis,
along with other great information. There is also a
mini-booklet showing other 20th Century FOX releases.
And fans can start drooling because another card
states M*A*S*H season seven will be out this December!
The discs' look seem basic to me and nothing fancy.
When you open the case, the discs usually fall out.
Menu Design and Navigation:
The menu screen is decent. It lists each episode on
the disc and you select which one you want and then it
takes you to the languages or scene selection option.
Please note that the languages section has the "no
laughtrack" feature on there, if fans are looking for
it. I'd have that as a separate option, because not
many people would think of looking in there for that
feature. The scene selections are quite large.
Usuaully sitcom sets have about 3-5 different places
where they can jump to. M*A*S*H has about 10-12 and
the season premiere has over 20 scene selections! I'm
not sure if this is a good thing or not. Some fans
prefer a few scene selections, some prefer a lot. I
don't really care how many there are. And like season
five, there is a play all feature, which fans have
wanted on the first four season sets.
Video and Audio Quality:
The video is pretty good I guess, especially for 1977.
During the opening credits you can see black dots at
times though. The audio is good, but it is in mono.
Fans should play these episodes without a laugh track
because of course there was no real studio audience
and I think that if shows don't have a live studio
audience, then there is no point in having a laugh
track. You can also play the episodes in French and
Spanish or you can play it in English with French or
Like the first five seasons, this set has no extras.
I'm sure fans would love to have some bonus material
and have told 20th Centry FOX that and yet they
haven't done anything about it yet.
There are five seasons still left to come on DVD and
also the series finale. I hope 20th Century FOX has
some bonus material planned for at least ONE of those
