Introduction:
I know nothing ... NOTHING! Actually ... I do. This is
the final season of the classic POW comedy, HOGAN'S
HEROES! That's right, Hogan (Bob Crane) and his band
of buddies (Larry Hovis, Richard Dawson, Robert Clary
and Kenneth Washington) are back for one last hurrah
to trick and tease Colonel Klink (Werner Klemperer)
and involve the blustery Sgt. Schultz (John Banner) in
their schemes. All 24 episodes of the sixth and final
season are here for your enjoyment from Paramount/CBS
DVD!
Memorable Episodes / Notable Guest Stars:
Memorable episodes this season include "Klink's
Masterpiece" in which Hogan convinces Klink to believe
he is a great artist in order to meet underground
contact at an art gallery. "Lady Chitterly's Lover"
Parts 1 and 2 in which an English traitor who could
pass as Col. Clittendon's brother, parachutes into
camp with information for Hitler. "The Gestapo
Takeover" is the one in which the Gestapo move into
camp and take over with plans to send Klink and
Schultz to the Russian front. "Kommandant Schultz" in
which Schultz lets his new powers as camp kommandant
go to his head. "The Gypsy" is the one in which Hogan
dresses up LeBeau and passes him off as a gypsy. And
more...
Guest stars this season include Brenda Benet, Noam
Pitlik, Sigrid Valdis, Barbara Babcock, Harold Gould,
Bernard Fox, Forrest Compton, Monte Markham, Leon
Askin, Howard Caine, Alice Ghostley, Ruta Lee,
Kathleen Freeman, and more!
Packaging:
The set continues to be small in size ... well, more
compact, which is a good thing. The main cover art
features Schultz, Klink and Hogan front and center,
with the series logo over them. The back of the box
features three-color photos from the episodes as well
as a nice shot of the group together.
There are two discs per case and each case holds two
discs, so there are four in total. The discs
themselves continue to have a simple background. Disc
1 contains episodes 1-6. Disc 2 contains episodes
7-12. Disc 3 contains episode 13-18 while Disc 4
contains episodes 19-24.
Menu Design and Navigation:
The main menu immediately starts with a list of the
episodes, plus a Play All feature. On top of the
episodes list are video clips of the series. The sound
of drums, like marching drums, is playing in the
background.
Video and Audio Quality:
The video and audio itself, really, are very good and
there is nothing I can really complain about. The
episodes are uncut in length, and each runs a good 24
to 25 minutes in length. Chapter skips are available
on each episode, and it is always a handy feature.

Special Features:
On the back of the box, it claims "Nussing is
missing." Well, there is something missing. SPECIAL
FEATURES! Sadly, once again, no bonus features are a
part of this set. It is a shame that the final season
of such a popular show will not get any special
features. Thankfully, the earlier seasons had a ton of
them. They could have at least possibly spread them
out over the course of six seasons.
Final Comments:
Another generic set, sadly. I miss the days of
customized disc art, customized slip sleeve case art.
I guess it is cheaper to use the same graphics
throughout. Moreover, the lack of special features is
a big disappointment. Of course, though, any fan of
the show will definitely have to pick this set up to
complete their collection. It was a good run and I am
sad to see another one of "my sets" come to an end...
